How to join

Who can join Freemasonry
Freemasonry is a multi racial and multi cultural organisation. Membership is open to men who are law abiding, of good character and who acknowledge a belief in a Supreme Being.
If you are interested in finding out more about Freemasonry, with a view to joining, then you can look on the United Grand Lodge of England website, or you can use the Lloyd’s Lodge contact details to ask any questions, and we will do our best to answer.

How to apply to join
If you are interested in joining, then in the first instance contact the Lloyd’s Lodge Secretary, who will explain the process. At this stage a preliminary meeting may be arranged for you to meet with one or two members of the Lodge, as an informal session for you to ask questions, for you to be sure that you wish to proceed with an application.

What happens next
The next stage will be for you to submit a formal application form and provide references.
If all is in order, a formal interview will be arranged, with a panel of Lodge members, who will need to satisfy themselves that you are eligible and have sound reasons for wanting to become a Freemason, and that you understand the requirements and commitment of membership.
The Lodge members will also need to be reassured that you have discussed your possible membership with your family, and that they are supportive.
By the same token this is your opportunity to interview the Lodge members and to satisfy yourself that Freemasonry is for you.
